March does wonders for the Canadian mood: the days are getting longer, the temperatures are getting warmer, the snow is melting; all evidence that another long winter is drawing to its inevitable end.
But the melting snow reveals the ugliness beneath. The grass is soggy, the roads are potholed, thawing dog poop abounds. And it still gets damned cold at night. The risk of another snowstorm is always around the corner. It’s not time to let one’s guard down.
