After the incredible sunny week we just had, this weekend has been a hard right turn back to reality: cold, wet, and gray.
For some reason, I’ve had “California Dreamin’” by the Mamas and Papas stuck in my head on repeat for a day or so (there are worse earworms to be afflicted with, I’m sure). When I saw this leaf on my front walk today, I knew it would complement my earworm perfectly, despite it not being winter.
All the leaves are brown (All the leaves are brown)
And the sky is grey (And the sky is grey)
I’ve been for a walk (I’ve been for a walk)
On a winter’s day (On a winter’s day)
I’d be safe and warm (I’d be safe and warm)
If I was in L.A. (If I was in L.A.)

On such a winter’s dayStopped into a church
I passed along the way
Well, I got down on my knees (Got down on my knees)
And I pretend to pray (I pretend to pray)
You know the preacher liked the cold (Preacher liked the cold)
He knows I’m gonna stay (Knows I’m gonna stay)
